Listening: My kids new favorite show on Disney Jr!

 

Loving: Chocolate peanut butter Lara bars are the best! I have one every morning for breakfast with my coffee.

 

Thinking: I have been trying to potty train my 3 yr old since she turned 2! My first two kids were so easy, but she was super stubborn about it. She just spent a few days with my mom for "potty boot camp" and I think we have finally got it!

 

Wanting: My 7 year old son is spending the week with his cousins a couple of hours away, and I know he is having so much fun, but we miss him like crazy! He has 3 boy cousins, so he's getting some good man time in, since he has 3 little sisters at home.

 

Needing: I think it's finally time to cash in that hot stone massage I got for Christmas!

 

All Star: I have become an expert in selling our stuff! We are moving next month, so I've been furiously listing stuff on Craigslist and Facebook garage sale groups. It's actually pretty fun and freeing to get rid of stuff!

March 2015 Currently

I'm linking up with Farley from Oh Boy Fourth Grade for this month's Currently!

 

*I love that my middle girls (4 and 3) are old enough to be entertained by crafty things. They sat at the table and glued spangles to paper for about half an hour this afternoon!

 



*I am loving my coffee these days! I have 2-3 cups in the morning, and usually one in the afternoon. Then sometimes I'll have a cup of decaf at night.

*Ok, seriously. We have nicknamed my 18 month old "the beast." I love her, but she is into e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. I cannot seem to babyproof my house enough. I have got to figure out some way to tame her :-)

*I feel like we've got in a rut with homeschooling. I'm wanting to change things up and bit make it a little more fun for the kids, but I lack motivation at this point.

*I NEED this weather to clear up and get dry! We had one fun snow day, but other than that it has just been cold and wet! The kids are cooped up inside all day and we are all going a bit crazy!

*So we don't have any travel plans for Spring Break, which means we will basically just be at home like always, but without any sort of school structure. I'm thinking a visit to the zoo and children's museum will be in order.

Currently January 2015

It's been awhile since I've linked up with Currently on Oh Boy 4th Grade! What better time than now?

 

Currently I am listening to the whirr of the washing machine. I have lots of loads of laundry to catch up on. I mean, normally with 4 kids I have a lot anyway, but since we were out of town for a few days, it adds up quick!

 

I am always extra grateful for a warm house on days like today. When we lived overseas we didn't have central heat, so it was always harder to stay warm, even inside.

 

I've been thinking a lot about our homeschool plans, but I have yet to actually do anything about it. Hopefully this weekend I can get some time to do it.

 

In the fall, my husband and I did the Whole 30 and loved it! It was challenging, but rewarding. We did good as far as eating goes up until about a month ago, and it's all been downhill since then. We are planning another Whole 30 starting in January!

 

With all the new toys and stuff for Christmas, I'm ready to clean out and organize! Easier said than done when I'm home with the kids all day. I don't need a day out to myself, I need a day IN to myself!

 

YES I am going to focus on my kids as individuals this year. I just read a great book called Loving the Little Years by Rachel Jankovic. In it, she talked about how we tend to see and treat our children as a group many times, but they always see themselves as individuals, and it really challenged me to take time to talk to, listen to, and spend time with each of my kids as individuals.

MAYBE I will start working out again. It's been a few years, but I'd really like to start walking or doing Pilates again.

I WISH I could create educational apps. I have a lot of great ideas for fun apps, but no idea how to go about actually getting them created!

April Currently

I'm not a fan of April Fool's Day. I don't like practical jokes at all, so a whole day dedicated to them is just awful! I think it comes from me getting embarrassed so easily, and I get embarrassed for other people easily too! But I am glad it's April nevertheless! I'm joining up with Farley from Oh' Boy 4th Grade for this month's Currently!

 

Listening - my little 2 year old has had a fever the past few days and all she wants to do is sit in my lap! Sweet....but a little hard to do with 3 other ones to take care of!

Loving - my husband was gone for almost 2 weeks on a scouting trip to the Middle East (we are trying to figure out where we are headed next) and it sure is nice to have him back!

Thinking - I've registered and picked my sessions for the TpT conference and I am so excited to meet everyone and hear the speakers!!

Wanting - The past 3 weeks we have been passing our sicky germs around and around and I'm ready for them to go away!

Needing - I finally have dental insurance for the first time in forever so I guess it's time to schedule an appointment!

Hours and last day - Well all the momma's know that my day is much longer than just 9-2, but those are the hours that we get school done in! My day is actually from around 6am to 8pm with the kids! As far as the last day....probably around the beginning of June, but we usually do stuff through the summer anyway. I like to have more of a relaxed schedule and go year round, so we end up doing about 4 days a week during the school year, but continue to work a few days a week during the summer! Then I don't feel bad if we need to take some time off during the year!

 

March Currently

February seemed to draaaag by this year! Maybe it was the weather and being stuck inside the house a lot! But I know now that spring is almost here, our days will likely fly by! I'm excited about this month for sure! We have a lot of fun stuff we can do with school, plus we are planning a family trip to Galveston during Spring Break!

February Currently

It's that time again for Currently with Farley from Oh' Boy 4th Grade!

Right now I'm currently:

 

 

Yes - my husband and I decided it was time to detox a little from sugar! So we are doing one month with no "extra sugar" like desserts, candy, soda, etc. For me that also means no diet soda which I am completely addicted to! We're on day 5, and both surviving :-)

 

Did you figure out the fib? Well, if you know anything about me or read my profile you know that I lived overseas for 5 years and have traveled many places around the world....so I have definitely been on a few airplanes! I truly have never gotten a speeding ticket, or even pulled over for speeding! I just like going the speed limit! And, yes I went bungee jumping when I was 14. I was vacationing with my friend and her family in South Padre, and we did it. I told my parents afterwards. Better to ask forgiveness than permission. :-)

 

 

January Currently

Happy New Year!!

We got back into the swing of things today with homeschool! Even though it's hard for the kids to get going sometimes, I always enjoy the routine that comes with school. I'm in the process of figuring out where to go next with my 3 yr. old. She has learned all the letters and their sounds and can write most of them. So, I think I'll do a little more with numbers and maybe start some word families and sight words. My son, who is now 6, picked up reading so easily that I feel like she is the first one I'm actually "teaching" how to read. We'll see how it goes! I know she's only 3, so I'm not going to push at all, just let her learn at her own pace.
